Call for Awards

The ICCA Annual Awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Journal Article Award, Outstanding Dissertation Award, Graduate Student Paper Award, and the Outstanding Service Award, honoring distinguished lifetime contributions, scholarly excellence, emerging research, and dedicated service to the association.

The nomination must be submitted electronically to Dr. Yunya Song at yunyasong@hkbu.edu.hk or Dr. Wenjing Xie at wjjwxie@gmail.com. Please use “Nomination for CCA Outstanding Service Award” as the email subject line.

Lifetime Achievement Award

ICCA invites nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The nominee needs to be a ICCA member to receive this award. The award will be conferred during the annual conference of ICA.

 

Nomination can be made by either the candidate or other scholars. The nomination package should be submitted in a single PDF document in English and includes:

 

  1. Contact information of the candidate and/or the nominator, including name, phone number, and email address;

  2. A 1-page personal statement by the candidate illustrating the contributions that the candidate has provided to Chinese communication research and the ICCA community;

  3. One nomination letter that addresses the candidate’s contributions as listed above; and  

  4. The candidate’s CV.

Outstanding Service Award

ICCA invites nominations for the Outstanding Service Award. To be eligible for this award, the nominee needs to be a ICCA member to receive this award. The award will be conferred during the annual conference of ICA.

Nomination can be made by either the candidate or other scholars. The nomination package should be submitted in a single PDF document in English and includes:

  1. Contact information of the candidate and/or the nominator, including name, phone number, and email address;

  2. A 1-page personal statement by the candidate illustrating the services that the candidate has provided to the ICCA community, including serving the membership at large, serving the Chinese communication scholar community, active contribution and participation in ICCA activities, etc.;

  3. One nomination letter that addresses the candidate’s services and contributions as listed above; and  

  4. The candidate’s CV.

Best Faculty Article Award

ICCA invites nominations for the inaugural Best Faculty Article Award. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be a 1) faculty member working at a 4-year university or college, and 2) ICCA member to receive this award. The award will be conferred during the annual conference of ICA.

Nomination can be made by either the author(s) or other scholars. The nomination package should be submitted in a single PDF document in English and includes:

 

  1. Contact information of the author and/or the nominator, including name, phone number, and email address;

  2. An article published in English in a peer-reviewed journal between January 1 and December 31 of the year preceding the annual conference.

  3. Two nomination letters that address the significance and the creativity of the article and how it contributes to communication; and  

  4. The author’s CV.

Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award

ICCA invites nominations for the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be a 1) graduate student who served as an instructor of record, and 2) a ICCA member to receive this award. 

The student candidate can be nominated by his/her advisor or another faculty member at the university. The nomination package should be submitted in a single PDF document in English and includes:

  1. Contact information of the student and/or the nominator, including name, phone number, and email address;

  2. A list of all courses taught as instructor of record during the student’s MA and/or Ph.D. studies;

  3. Teaching evaluations of the courses that the nominee taught as instructor of record between January 1 and December 31 of the year preceding the annual conference.

  4. The nominee’s teaching philosophy, up to two pages maximum;

  5. A letter of support from the advisor or another faculty member at the university, which should address why the student deserves the award.
